Before you commit

2 days · Colmar base · city walking, then a dated bus or taxi plan

Arrive with a plan

Start with Colmar for the museum and meal. For day two, the Eguisheim tourist office lists the R030 link from Colmar via Eguisheim towards Rouffach and local taxi contacts. Check the dated timetable, boarding stop and whether the return you need runs on your chosen day.

Get back comfortably

Choose the return bus before booking Wolfberger. If its departure leaves too little time, reserve a taxi back to Colmar using the official local directory; do not assume a vehicle will be waiting in the village.

What to budget

€14 per adult for Unterlinden, or €17 including its audioguide.

Meals, the selected tasting, bus or taxi fares and accommodation remain additional. There is no verified all-in two-day price.

Price evidence checked 2026-10-10. Confirm the current total for your date.

Choose the day that fits you

Unterlinden publishes access arrangements, but Colmar and Eguisheim include historic paving. The vineyard trail is a walking outing; its gradient, surfaces and resting places have not been verified for limited mobility.

A gentler option: Keep the museum, a seated Colmar lunch and one prearranged Eguisheim tasting. Replace the vineyard trail with a short village visit, agree a close drop-off and ask Wolfberger about the complete tasting-room route and toilets.

The day plan

Stay in Colmar for Unterlinden, lunch and a town afternoon. Give Eguisheim a separate day for its marked vineyard trail and Wolfberger’s historic cellar. This keeps the plan to two places while leaving time to see both. Unterlinden closes on Tuesday; a car-free second day also depends on the seasonal village service and its final return.

Day 1 — Colmar beyond the postcard

Art in the morning, lunch and a loose afternoon for the town. Suggested allowances; no guided walking route is included.

  1. 10:00 suggested

    Musée Unterlinden

    Allow 90–120 minutes

Make a manageable selection from the museum rather than trying to absorb every period. Leave time to get between buildings and to pause; the point is a good morning, not a completed collection.

Walk or choose suitable transport to your lunch reservation; use current directions through the centre.

  2. 12:30 suggested

    Wistub Brenner

    Allow 90 minutes for lunch

Have lunch at Wistub Brenner before exploring Colmar’s streets. Check the current menu and dietary arrangements directly.

Keep the afternoon in Colmar rather than squeezing Eguisheim into the remaining hours.

Day 2 — Eguisheim and its vineyard edge

A village morning, a marked walk if conditions suit, lunch, then one cellar stop before the confirmed return.

  1. Morning suggested

    Eguisheim vineyard trail

Allow up to 2 hours; choose the current route locally

Use the official tourism trail information to connect the village with its surrounding vines. Obtain the current route before leaving and stay on marked public paths. If weather or access does not suit, keep the morning in the village.

Leave a lunch break before the cellar, which publishes a midday closure. Confirm its chosen entrance in the village.

  2. 14:30, subject to agreement

    Wolfberger’s historic cellar

Allow 45–60 minutes; confirm the actual tasting format

A village-based cellar stop avoids driving between several distant appointments. Ask for a short introduction to the wines actually available and agree the tasting arrangements beforehand.

Return on the service or transfer you checked in advance, keeping a buffer for the last departure.

Places & booking

Official venue links, indicative costs and access information. Reserve each visit, meal and transfer directly.

Art museum

Musée Unterlinden

The museum gives the trip a serious art and regional-history element, making Colmar worthwhile for someone who is not tasting wine.

Cost

Adult entry €14, or €17 with audioguide, on the official price page when checked; confirm the current ticket.

Booking

Published Wednesday–Monday, 09:00–18:00, with Tuesday and holiday closures. Confirm the date and current ticket directly.

Address
Place Unterlinden, 68000 Colmar
Time here
Allow 90–120 minutes
Access
The museum describes lifts and ramps, but warns of difficult exterior cobbles, some cloister-room closures and a level change at the Ruckers room. Ask about the current accessible route.

Restaurant

Wistub Brenner

A Colmar meal keeps the first day geographically compact and creates space for local food without another transfer.

Cost

Check the current menu directly; no fixed meal price is assumed.

Booking

The official page publishes daily lunch 12:00–16:00, last orders 15:45, and evening service. Reserve through the restaurant and confirm special requirements.

1 rue Turenne, 68000 Colmar

Allow about 90 minutes
Access
Contact the venue about step-free entrance, seating and dietary requirements.

Marked outdoor walk

Eguisheim vineyard trail

Walking outside the village makes the vineyard landscape legible before tasting; skip it when weather, daylight or mobility makes that a poor fit.

Cost

No paid guided service is included or assumed.

Booking

Use official trail information and verify the current route locally. Do not treat this overview as a navigable map.

Address
Eguisheim, 68420; obtain the current starting point from local tourism information
Time here
Choose the current route; allow up to 2 hours
Access
Outdoor surfaces, gradients and weather need checking. No wheelchair-accessible route is promised.

Cellar and tasting room

Wolfberger cellar — Eguisheim

A fixed village address provides a practical tasting anchor after the walk, with an appointment easier to plan around than an open-ended winery hunt.

Cost

Ask the operator about current tasting charges and inclusions.

Booking

Published hours include a 12:00–14:00 closure and holiday exceptions. Arrange the tasting format, language and any group visit directly.

Address
6 Grand’Rue, 68420 Eguisheim
Time here
45–60 minutes suggested; confirm the selected visit
Access
Ask about steps, surfaces and circulation on your selected visitor route before booking.

Travel details

Suggested: 2 full days and 2–3 nights in Colmar.

When to go

Avoid Tuesday if Unterlinden is central to your first day; it publishes Wednesday–Monday opening and holiday exceptions. Wolfberger publishes daily opening with a midday closure and named holiday closures. Check seasonal village transport before choosing dates around a car-free plan.

Getting here

Use Colmar as the arrival point and check regional trains from your starting city. Unterlinden’s access page identifies rail links from Strasbourg and Basel and a walk from the station. Arrange luggage first if visiting on arrival; a city centre that looks compact on a map still needs arrival time.

Moving between stops

Walk central Colmar where the surfaces suit you. The Eguisheim tourist office lists the R030 bus link and local taxi contacts: check the dated timetable, boarding stop and last return before reserving a tasting. Arrange both transfer legs if the service does not fit.

What to budget

Unterlinden’s official price page lists €14 adult admission, or €17 with audioguide, when checked. Confirm the current ticket; restaurant meals, tasting arrangements and village transport are separate.

If the day changes

Rain or unsuitable walking conditions

Keep time in Eguisheim village and the confirmed cellar visit rather than forcing an outdoor trail. Check return transport before changing the day.

No village transport for your date

Use a booked transfer or guided outing with clear inclusions. Otherwise keep a Colmar day; do not let an assumed seasonal bus become the itinerary’s weakest link.

In your glass

Ask the question that helps you order.

A tasting can give you a useful reference for dinner without needing a complete grape catalogue. Ask about the actual wine’s style rather than inferring sweetness from its name.

Ask your host: “Is this wine dry, and what local dish would you suggest with it?”
