Arrive with a plan

Allow a separate Perth–Margaret River travel leg before this two-day plan. The regional tourism transport page lists local transfers and drivers. Ask for a quote naming Mammoth Cave and Voyager on day one, then Cape Mentelle and any coast stop on day two; a regional pickup promise is not the same as this itinerary.

Get back comfortably

Agree the final winery-to-accommodation collection and any coast detour before departing. If returning to Perth, decide whether that is a separate travel morning; do not make a tasting guest the unplanned driver home.

What to budget

AU$91 per adult for Mammoth Cave AU$26 + Voyager’s Savour tasting AU$65.

Cape Mentelle’s chosen experience, both days’ meals, local driver, Perth transfers and accommodation are extra. Voyager’s Savour tasting does not include lunch.

Price evidence checked 2026-10-10. Confirm the current total for your date.

Choose the day that fits you

The full Mammoth Cave visit has 370 steps. Only the first approximately 30 metres of boardwalk are identified for wheelchair access; ask the cave team about entry, the limited route and emergency arrangements. Other estate and coastal routes remain individual checks.

A gentler option: Choose the limited cave entry only after confirmation, or replace the cave with a seated stop. Keep one booked estate per day and use a driver. A short coast viewpoint can replace a trail only where parking-to-view access is confirmed.

The day plan

Use Margaret River town for two days on Wadandi Country, keeping the first around Mammoth Cave and Voyager Estate. Cape Mentelle sits nearer town for the second day, with a Prevelly coast detour if weather permits. Book road transport between rural stops. Mammoth Cave’s full route has 370 steps; its first chamber has a separate wheelchair-access arrangement.

Day one · Mammoth Cave and Voyager

Suggested order and allowances; use your confirmed booking times.

  1. Morning · allow a 9:30 start

    Mammoth Cave

    Allow 60–90 minutes including arrival

Follow the audio route through cave chambers and leave time for the forest exit. Wear shoes with grip.

Allow approximately 25–35 minutes from town; verify the route.

  2. Late morning or afternoon appointment

    Voyager Estate

45-minute Savour tasting; allow extra time for a meal

Choose the compact seated tasting. Reserve lunch separately here or eat back in town.

Allow approximately 20–30 minutes from the cave, plus check-in.

Day two · Cape Mentelle and optional coast

Suggested order and allowances; use your confirmed booking times.

  1. Late morning appointment

    Cape Mentelle

Allow 60–90 minutes; confirm your selected format

Visit this founding winery on Wallcliffe Road. Afterwards, lunch in town and consider a coastal lookout if the weather suits.

Four kilometres from town. Any Prevelly detour needs transport and a weather check.

Cave and forest

Mammoth Cave

The cave makes this a landscape trip before it becomes a wine trip, with a distinct activity for a companion who is less interested in tasting.

Cost

AU$26 adult entry.

Booking

Use the operator's ticket information; last entry is published as 4pm.

Address
Caves Road, Forest Grove WA 6286
Time here
Operator says allow one hour.
Access
The full cave route has 370 steps. The operator identifies only the first approximately 30 metres of boardwalk for wheelchair access. Contact the cave team before visiting to confirm the limited route, any assistance and emergency arrangements; this is not access to the full cave circuit.

Wine tasting and restaurant

Voyager Estate

A booked estate tasting supplies a focused wine anchor close enough to the southern-area day; lunch needs its own reservation.

Cost

Savour AU$65 per guest; lunch costs extra unless expressly included.

Booking

Bookings essential for experiences; restaurant booking is separate.

Address
Lot 1 Gnarawary Road, Margaret River WA 6285
Time here
Savour: 45 minutes. Longer experiences have different durations.
Access
Estate publishes seated tastings and accessible restaurant facilities; discuss tailored tours beforehand.

Cellar door

Cape Mentelle

A second-day producer visit avoids stacking tastings on the cave day and leaves room for an optional coast stop.

Cost

Ask for the current tasting charge before reserving.

Booking

Cellar door publishes 10am–5pm daily. Confirm tasting or tour availability directly.

Address
331 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River WA 6285
Time here
Allow 60–90 minutes; confirm the chosen experience.
Access
Ask about step-free access and seating for your particular experience.

Travel details

Two local days and preferably two nights; Perth travel is additional.

When to go

Choose two days with winery appointments confirmed. Mammoth Cave opens daily except Christmas Day; Cape Mentelle publishes daily cellar-door opening. Build around Voyager’s available session.

Getting here

Allow approximately three to four hours from Perth by road, plus stops. Flights to Busselton–Margaret River Airport need a schedule check and prearranged onward transfer. Arrive the previous afternoon for a relaxed first morning.

Moving between stops

Book a driver or suitable tour if everyone will taste. A hire car suits the cave and coast with a non-drinking driver. These rural stops are not walkable between venues; agree the final return beforehand.

What to budget

Mammoth Cave adult entry is published at AU$26; Voyager’s 45-minute Savour experience at AU$65 per guest. Check Cape Mentelle’s current tasting charge and add meals, transport and accommodation. Reserve lunch separately from Voyager’s Savour tasting.

If the day changes

If it rains

Keep the cave and seated tastings, subject to operator conditions. Replace the coast with a longer lunch; the cave's steps still need suitable footwear.

If you have only one day

Choose Mammoth Cave and one booked winery. Drop the second winery before compressing lunch or the return journey.

In your glass

Two useful names

Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are useful starting points at these estates. Ask for an explanation tied to the vineyard you are visiting rather than trying to memorise a regional ranking.

Ask your host: “What changes most between your vineyard sites, and can we taste that difference?”

Regional pickup by arrangement; confirm the exact accommodation. Some Cowaramup-area pickups carry a levy, and the listing excludes certain areas including Contos and Hamelin Bay.
How it fits
An approximately nine-hour wine-and-food day with a two-course lunch. It replaces an independently booked winery day, not the full two-day cave-and-coast plan.
Arrange first
Ask for the pickup and route before choosing which day to replace. The checked listing is non-refundable: understand that condition before paying.
Not included
The tour does not automatically include Mammoth Cave, Voyager’s Savour experience or Cape Mentelle. Perth transfers and out-of-area pickups are not assumed included.

The listing currently states non-refundable. Some pickups beyond 20km of Cowaramup incur a levy; Contos Campground and Hamelin Bay are excluded. Does not guarantee our named cellar doors.
