Arrive with a plan

A train to Gawler Central plus a LinkSA bus can reach Barossa towns, but it does not complete this three-stop rural circuit. Use the official tours directory to request a private driver or itinerary quote naming Seppeltsfield, Maggie Beer’s Farmshop and Yalumba.

Get back comfortably

Confirm whether your driver returns to Barossa accommodation or Adelaide and include the final Yalumba pickup time. A shared tour follows its own itinerary; use it instead of these separate bookings unless the operator confirms the stops.

What to budget

AU$15 per adult for one of Yalumba’s listed standard flights, or AU$20 for Best of Barossa.

Seppeltsfield’s selected experience, the Farmshop or Eatery meal, driver and accommodation are extra. There is no verified all-in price for the three-stop day.

Price evidence checked 2026-10-10. Confirm the current total for your date.

Choose the day that fits you

The estate visits and Farmshop may involve different entrances, surfaces and standing periods. Their combined route is not independently access-verified.

A gentler option: Choose one seated tasting and a booked meal, then add a second venue only if the access and energy budget work. Ask each host about the full route and book a vehicle suited to passengers and mobility equipment.

The day plan

Travel from Seppeltsfield in the west through Maggie Beer’s Farmshop near Nuriootpa to Yalumba near Angaston. This is a road day, so reserve a driver for the whole sequence and return. Tanunda or Nuriootpa makes an overnight base; check dinner access when choosing accommodation. Each stop has its own holiday or appointment calendar.

A west-to-east Barossa day

Suggested order and allowances; use your confirmed booking times.

  1. Around 10:30am · booked session

    Seppeltsfield

    Allow 60–90 minutes including arrival

Start with a selected tasting and time to look around. The winery recommends 45 minutes for the tasting itself.

Allow approximately 20 minutes from Tanunda, plus early check-in.

  2. Around 12:30pm · lunch

    Maggie Beer's Farmshop

Allow 90 minutes; longer for a booked Eatery meal

Make food the focus. Choose seasonal Farmshop plates or a separately reserved Eatery meal. Browsing does not include a cooking demonstration.

Allow approximately 20 minutes from Seppeltsfield, plus parking and queues.

  3. Around 3pm · booked session

    Yalumba Wine Room

    Allow 60–75 minutes

Finish with one flight near Angaston. A Grenache or white selection changes the conversation after the morning’s wines.

Allow approximately 20–30 minutes from lunch; confirm collection afterwards.

Food gives the middle of the day its own purpose and broadens the trip beyond winery visits; decide between the Farmshop and a booked Eatery meal.

Travel details

One local day, approximately 10:30am–4:30pm, plus Adelaide travel. One night improves the evening.

When to go

Choose a date with both winery appointments available. Check Seppeltsfield and Maggie Beer’s holiday closures and confirm Yalumba’s Wine Room hours directly; its published wording is “most days”.

Getting here

Barossa tourism puts the region about 70km northeast of Adelaide, roughly an hour by the direct road route. Allow extra for traffic. A train to Gawler still needs a separately arranged onward connection.

Moving between stops

Book a driver or suitable tour for the route and return if everyone will taste. These estates need road transport. An outbound taxi is not a return booking; obtain collection details beforehand.

What to budget

Yalumba publishes Samuels Collection, Grenache and white flights at AU$15 per person and Best of Barossa at AU$20. Seppeltsfield charges depend on the experience; Farmshop food, an Eatery meal and driver costs are additional. Confirm inclusions and any tasting-fee redemption rather than budgeting on a free visit.

If the day changes

Wet-weather version

Keep seated tastings and lunch. Replace a farm wander with an indoor food experience only if a session is available and separately booked.

A slower version

Drop Yalumba and spend longer at Seppeltsfield or lunch. Put the second estate on the following morning after confirming its opening.

In your glass

Look beyond the obvious flight

Yalumba offers Grenache and white flights as well as its broader collections. Choosing a different style at the second estate can make two visits more illuminating than repeating the same request everywhere.

Ask your host: “Which wine here shows a side of the Barossa I might otherwise miss?”
