1 day · village base · walk between stops; station transfer needed

Arrive with a plan

Choose Auxerre or Tonnerre only after comparing trains with a confirmed onward transfer. Ask Chablis tourist information for a current taxi contact, quoting your station, train arrival, luggage and accommodation. Request both legs in one enquiry; a rail ticket does not include the ride to Chablis.

Get back comfortably

Book the village-to-station collection against your actual return train, with a buffer agreed with the driver. Keep the collection address and telephone number; do not leave the final ride to a taxi rank search after lunch.

What to budget

€39.50 per adult for the two published admission components: Laroche €30 + La Cité €9.50.

Lunch, drinks beyond inclusions, station transfers and accommodation are unpriced here. This is an activity subtotal, not a whole-day budget.

Price evidence checked 2026-10-10. Confirm the current total for your date.

Choose the day that fits you

Village walking does not establish step-free access. Laroche’s historic cellar route needs individual confirmation; La Cité publishes adapted facilities. Pavements and the restaurant entrance also need checking for your requirements.

A gentler option: Make La Cité the anchor, book a nearby seated lunch and ask Laroche about a tasting format that avoids the cellar route. Use a prebooked village transfer if necessary. This is a lower-walking suggestion, not a verified wheelchair itinerary.

The day plan

Stay in Chablis village for a day built around Laroche’s historic cellars, lunch by the Serein and La Cité’s visitor trail. The village stops keep driving out of the middle of the day; arrival from Auxerre or Tonnerre still needs a prebooked transfer. Thursday, Friday or Saturday is the clearest fit for the three published calendars in 2026. Choose vineyard walking as a separate outing.

Laroche to La Cité

Suggested order: cellar at 10:30 if confirmed, lunch at 12:30, Cité around 15:00. Move the sequence around real reservations.

  1. 10:30, if confirmed

    Laroche’s Obédiencerie

    90 minutes, published tour length

Start with the historic cellars and press, followed by the operator’s tasting. Arrive early enough to find the confirmed entrance and avoid turning a pleasant walk into a negotiation with your watch.

Then allow a village walk and buffer before your lunch reservation; check the route from the actual tour exit.

  2. 12:30 suggested

    Au Fil du Zinc

    Allow 2 hours for lunch

Make lunch the centre of the day rather than a gap between tastings. Check the current menu and dietary requirements directly, and keep the afternoon flexible if service takes longer.

Walk towards La Cité after lunch if suitable; use current directions and leave time to arrive calmly.

  3. 15:00 suggested

La Cité des Climats et vins

About 45 minutes for the trail; allow longer overall

The visitor trail gives the village visit some regional context. The ticket includes a wine or grape-juice tasting. Leave time for the garden or a quiet pause rather than immediately booking another cellar.

Return to the village or your prearranged transfer. Check opening and last-entry conditions for your date.

Travel details

One full day; stay overnight if you want dinner in the village.

When to go

For 2026, Thursday, Friday or Saturday is the clearest fit for all three stops. La Cité’s dated calendar gives Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–18:00, from 4 April–15 November, then Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00–18:00, from 16 November–23 December. Confirm holiday exceptions, restaurant service and your Laroche appointment. Check the dated calendar afresh for later travel.

Getting here

Check rail options to Auxerre or Tonnerre, then reserve the onward transfer to Chablis and its return before fixing appointments. La Cité’s access page identifies both stations; arrange pickup directly. Staying in the village lets you leave the station transfer until the following day.

Moving between stops

Walk between village stops if the route suits your mobility. Use the confirmed Laroche entrance for directions and leave time to find it. Reserve station transfers before tasting.

What to budget

Laroche publishes €30 per person and La Cité’s current French practical page lists €9.50 adult admission. Confirm the dated ticket total and add lunch, transfers and accommodation.

If the day changes

Restaurant closed or full?

Keep the cellar appointment and choose another lunch through the official destination restaurant directory. Confirm its service hours and menu before treating it as a replacement; no same-day table is promised.

If La Cité is closed on your date

Use the afternoon for the village and ask the tourist office about current marked walks. Do not send yourself into a vineyard on the assumption that every visible track is public.

In your glass

Same grape. Different patch.

Chablis’s white wines are Chardonnay. Keep the lesson useful: compare two places from the same producer if offered, rather than trying to memorise every appellation before lunch.

Ask your host: “Could we compare Chablis and a Premier Cru from the same producer?”

Starts from
40 Route d’Auxerre, Chablis
Duration
Allow approximately 3 hours

How this fits your trip

Meet / depart
Chablis: the listed e-bike meeting point is 40 Route d’Auxerre. Confirm the exact departure time on the dated booking.
How it fits
A separate three-hour vineyard outing. Use it instead of the independent afternoon, or on another day; keep Laroche and lunch only if confirmed timings leave enough travel and meal time.
Arrange first
Reach the meeting point independently and check cycling ability, weather terms and the listing’s confirmation window before fixing the rest of the day.
Not included
It does not reserve Laroche, Au Fil du Zinc or La Cité. Station transfers and the other independent-day bookings remain separate.

Confirmation can take up to 48 hours, subject to availability. This does not book the Laroche visit or lunch in our guide.
