Arrive with a plan

Plan arrival in Haro before booking Muga. The official tourism page distinguishes the railway station in the cellar district from the bus station near town and lists the taxi rank at Plaza Castañares de Rioja. Use the arrival address that matches your actual service.

Get back comfortably

The walk between the cellar district and old town adds effort and time. Book a taxi leg if needed and tie the return collection to your bus, train or hotel; confirm the service day instead of assuming frequent onward trains.

What to budget

€30 per adult for Muga’s approximately 90-minute standard tour. CVNE’s €30 standard tour is an alternative, not a required second booking.

Lunch, transport, additional glasses and accommodation are extra. The one-tour activity subtotal stays €30; booking both full tours makes it €60 before those extras.

Price evidence checked 2026-10-10. Confirm the current total for your date.

Choose the day that fits you

A station-district day still involves walking and historic wine premises. Current evidence does not establish step-free access throughout Muga, CVNE and the old town.

A gentler option: Book one tasting format whose access is confirmed, take a taxi between the cellar district and your chosen lunch address, and omit the optional second tasting. Ask about standing time, seating, thresholds and toilets before paying.

The day plan

Haro’s Barrio de la Estación puts historic wineries close together. Book Muga for the cellars and cooperage, walk or take a taxi to the old town for lunch, then decide whether you want a CVNE wine-bar stop. Stay in Haro for this day: Logroño has a different food scene and needs its own plan. Muga’s standard tour runs Monday–Saturday, subject to the confirmed slot.

Station district to Haro old town

Suggested order, not operator departure times. Move the town walk around the cellar slot you actually secure. Keep the afternoon optional rather than turning two good wines into a compulsory comparison exam.

  1. Morning appointment

    Bodegas Muga

    Operator: approximately 90 minutes

Visit the winery's wooden vats, ageing rooms and cooperage, followed by the tasting included in your chosen tour. Arrive early: Muga does not admit late arrivals once the tour starts.

Afterwards, allow approximately 20–30 minutes to walk towards central Haro; check your route rather than following a straight line on a map.

  2. Lunch and early afternoon

    Haro old town

    Allow 2 hours including lunch

Explore Plaza de la Paz and the surrounding streets, with time for lunch. Choose and reserve the restaurant separately from the winery.

If adding CVNE, allow time to return to the station district before its wine bar closes.

  3. Optional afternoon

CVNE wine bar or prebooked tour

    Allow 45–60 minutes for a wine-bar stop

Choose a focused glass or tasting rather than another full tour by default. If the cellar history is your main interest, book CVNE instead of Muga and use the afternoon for the town.

Finish with a buffer for the confirmed train or taxi. A winery shop staying open does not mean tours are still running.

Lunch, around your booking.

Check the current menu and service, then reserve a table separately.

Cellar visit

Bodegas Muga

A single structured cellar appointment anchors the day in Haro’s station district, so the visitor can concentrate on one producer rather than move continuously.

Cost

Standard tour €30 per person on the checked specific page; confirm current price and inclusions.

Booking

Advance reservation essential. Standard tour in Spanish or English; cancellation inside 48 hours is non-refundable according to the published terms.

Address
Avda. Vizcaya 2, Barrio de la Estación, 26200 Haro
Time here
Approximately 90 minutes, per operator
Access
Operator mentions adapted access at the lower tower roundabout; request route-specific details.

Town walk

Haro old town

The lunch break gives Rioja a town and food context; choose the actual restaurant in advance instead of treating a destination directory as a reservation.

Cost

No ticket proposed for the public-street walk; food and any paid attractions are separate.

Booking

No booking for the public streets. Check restaurant service separately.

Address
Plaza de la Paz, Haro, La Rioja
Time here
Allow 45–60 minutes walking, plus lunch
Access
Historic streets can include slopes and uneven paving; choose a route that suits you.

Winery and wine bar

CVNE, Haro

A nearby option for a different appointment or a modest second comparison. It is useful flexibility if Muga is unavailable, not an instruction to double the day’s drinking.

Cost

Association lists standard guided tour €30; wine-bar spend varies.

Booking

Tours must be booked. Check wine-bar hours: association lists earlier Sunday and weekday closing than Saturday.

Address
Barrio de la Estación s/n, 26200 Haro, La Rioja
Time here
Allow 45–60 minutes for the bar; standard tour listed as 90 minutes
Access
Ask about the specific tour route and seating; no complete accessibility assessment was available.

Travel details

One full day; a night in Haro removes the rush for a last connection.

When to go

Monday–Saturday subject to the chosen appointment. Muga lists its standard guided tour Monday–Saturday; check holiday exceptions. Spring and autumn suit town wandering; harvest visits need advance planning.

Getting here

Check current Renfe services to Haro or arrive by a prearranged transfer. Do not assume a train departure will fit a tasting simply because the winery district is beside the station. Confirm the return before booking appointments.

Moving between stops

Walk within the station district. Allow approximately 20–30 minutes between that district and the old-town centre, adjusting for your route and mobility. Use a booked taxi if needed; distant vineyard estates require separate transport and a non-drinking driver.

What to budget

Muga's specific standard-tour page lists €30 per person for approximately 90 minutes. The station-district association lists CVNE's standard tour at €30. These are alternatives unless you deliberately book both; add meals, transport and optional glasses separately. Prices checked 10 October 2026.

If the day changes

Rain or a sold-out cellar

Keep the old-town meal and check whether CVNE’s indoor wine bar is open for your date.

Want the wider Rioja landscape?

Add another day with a booked driver and a single out-of-town estate. Do not bolt Laguardia, Logroño and multiple country wineries onto this walkable Haro day.

In your glass

Ageing is a useful question, not a leaderboard.

Rioja's Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva terms help start a conversation about ageing. They do not tell you which bottle you will enjoy most. Ask the host to explain the wines poured and how the producer uses oak.

Ask your host: “What changes most between these wines: vineyard, ageing or blend?”

Arrange first
Check the pickup address, operating date and the listing’s confirmation window before keeping any Muga or CVNE appointment.
Not included
The operator chooses its winery programme. The tour is not a separate reservation for the exact Muga, CVNE and old-town stops in this guide.

Despite Pamplona in Viator’s URL, the listing offers pickup in specified Rioja towns. Confirmation can take up to 48 hours; verify pickup and winery programme.
